USING HEALTH INSURANCE:
Many of the services that Advance Therapy provides are covered by health insurance and we are contracted with most major carriers. We will help you determine the benefits offered under your policy and we will bill your insurance company for you, but ultimately you are responsible for understanding your health insurance plan and submitting payment for fees that are not covered. If prior authorization is need before providing services, we will submit all necessary documentation.
Your policy explains what the insurance company will pay for and how much of the bill you will have to pay. For example, the policy may cover an office visit, but you may have to pay a $20 co-payment. Or, the policy may not cover anything until you've paid an agreed upon amount out of your pocket, which is known as a deductible. These deductibles and co-payments, along with any other non-reimbursable expenses you may pay is referred to as an out-of-pocket-expense. Other policies may have co-insurance, which is a percentage of the bill that you're required to pay, which may be in addition to your deductible and co-payment. Often, the total amount of co-insurance you have to pay in a given policy is capped by the policy's maximum.
Advance Therapy partners with Great Lakes Medical Billing (877-692-5484 - billing@greatlakesmb.com) to help us understand the benefits under your policy to minimize confusion and have clear expectations. Typically, we send out invoices for your portion of the payments on a monthly basis. Also, you may often use a Health Savings Account to pay for our services.
