This is an 8 week program and caregivers will be taught fun ideas for extra practice at home. Each session will begin with gross motor, sensory, postural control and self-regulation activities. Therapists will then implement activities to facilitate fine motor dexterity, assist with and monitor hand dominance if not present and teach appropriate grasp pattern on writing utensils. Therapists are trained and can support children with common handwriting problems; letter recognition, letter formation, spacing, writing too hard or soft, letter and/or number reversals, posture, paper and utensil placement. Therapists are eager to assist your child to have fun while developing the challenging yet powerful skill of writing.
